Backlash measurement in gearing of a gear wheel with a flywheel

 


Before демонтажем from the starter engine it is necessary to execute following checks:

– Check of serviceability of system of start-up of the engine.
– Check of serviceability of the storage battery.
– Check of serviceability of electric conducting: to check up integrity of wires and reliability of electric connections of the battery, the lock of ignition, a starter, including "a mass" wire. If necessary to clear contacts and to tighten fastenings of wires.
– Check of serviceability of the lock of ignition and the traction relay: to examine and define a condition of the lock and the relay.
– The raised noise of a starter: for normalisation of noise of a starter at engine start-up to execute the following:

1) By means of diagnostics table to define the reason of the raised noise.

2) to Eliminate the found out defect.

2а) to Check up serviceability of a flywheel: absence of a bend, traces of strong deterioration etc.

2б) to Start the Engine and to note by means of a chalk or coal of top of teeths of a wreath of a flywheel with the greatest radial palpation. To switch off the Engine and to turn a cranked shaft so that noted teeths of a wreath have appeared in gearing with a starter gear wheel.

2в) to Disconnect a negative wire of the battery.

2г) to Check up a backlash between a gear wheel and a gear wreath of a flywheel by means of wire щупа in diameter 0,5 mm, fig. backlash Measurement in gearing of a gear wheel with a flywheel. For correct definition of a backlash it is necessary to centre a gear wheel tooth between teeths of a wreath and to insert щуп between top of a tooth of a gear wheel and a wreath hollow. If a backlash less demanded to remove a starter from a flywheel on necessary distance.

2д) If the backlash much more exceeds 0,5 mm and makes about 1,5 mm, to move up a starter to a flywheel. The raised backlash can cause breakage of teeths of a flywheel. For backlash reduction it is necessary to adjust a thickness of linings only on an external support of a starter. The lining in the thickness of 0,4 mm, located in this place, corresponds to change of a backlash in gearing about 0,3 mm.

In the absence of standard linings of a starter it is possible to use flat washers or other similar details.

Check of serviceability of a starter: if the battery, electric conducting and the ignition lock are serviceable, to dismantle a starter for the subsequent check.

It is forbidden to include a starter more, than for 30 seconds continuously. Between starter inclusions it is necessary to maintain a pause not less than 2 minutes for its cooling. The overheat of a starter because of long and continuous work can put it out of action. Details of a starter do not demand some greasing while in service, except cases of full dismantling of a starter.
